Ya I was the heavy kid when I was growing up, so what. I decided to change the way I felt and they way I approached life early on in my teenage years. Outdoor athletics were they way in which I did it, at first with mountain biking and snowboarding. Now climbing envelopes my time outside in both the winter and the summer.
Throughout these years playing in the hills I have trained extensively in the off season by using exercises endorsed by the sports top athletes and done in a typical gym setting. What I have found though is that the real world doesn't isolate, it doesn't care if you were doing sports specific exercises. It wants you to be determined, work hard, achieve success and use your body as nature intended it to... as a whole.
Crossfit is a part of me just as much as climbing or trail running are. I have been doing it for two years, one on my own and one in a gym. It has made me stronger in a two month cycle then training for six months in a standard gym. An example of how good the training is you ask, ok here's one for you. I love to climb ice and winter terrain so this April I took a trip out to Canmore. I trained 4 days a week at a crossfit gym for 2 months before I left and I stayed on a palieo / zone style of eating. In that time I gained muscle like I never had while reducing my body fat by half all the while being able to do more for longer periods without fatigue. When I got out there I was able to climb stronger than I ever had (I lived there for 4 years previous to moving back to Ontario), go more days on than ever before and feel less fatigue that day and far less the days after.
All the while keeping up with friends who live there and climb 4 days a week, and I live in Ontario! I will never set foot in another 24hr/good time fitness again.
Come on in and see what its like to feel good about who you are.

What is CrossFit Kids?
CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely absolutely CrossFit
geared and designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of that population.
(nuerological, cognitive, motor)
CrossFit Kids is the principal strength and conditioning program for many young athletes and the primary P.E. program for many home schools, charter schools. It is used by athletic teams, martial arts schools and many parents that want their kids to grow up healthy, strong and have a life long love of working out thus avoiding the common problems associated with childhood inactivity and obesity.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Healthy living requires that our kids push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they play athletics. Athletics is a specialized pursuit. Our goal is to support the specialist, but reward the generalist.
The CrossFit Kids program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for 4 year olds and elite high school athletes. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of our second graders and our high school wrestler differ by degree not kind.
CrossFit Kids is a minimalist program. It is not expensive, often requires little or no equipment therefore can be used across broad socio economic groups providing an easily accessible cost free resource for Elite Physical Fitness to everyone.
We also publish the CrossFit Kids Magazine designed to support the CrossFit community as a whole as well as teachers, trainers, and parents actively engaged in coaching CrossFit Kids. The CrossFit Kids magazine details the theory, techniques, and practice used by our coaches in our gym, in essence bringing your garage or gym into ours, making you part of our Crossfit Family.
